Job Summary

Coordinates the development and implementation of student-athlete experience services. Assists in marketing efforts, Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) leadership and support efforts, and student-athlete leadership programs.

Essential Functions

Coordinates the development and implementation of student-athlete personal, professional, leadership and career development programs and committees. Coordinates the development and implementation of student-athlete diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging efforts and programs. Coordinates the development and implementation of associated marketing, social media and enhancement efforts for student-athletes and assist with marketing for sports programs. Assists with NIL leadership and support efforts. Ensures all necessary program documents and action items are prepared, completed and distributed to meet compliance, regulation, and service standards.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and facilitate programming for incoming and continuing student-athletes to include:
    • NCAA Recommended Programs and Curriculum
    • Career Services
    • Financial Management
    • Leadership
    • Personal Development
    • Brand Development
  • Coordinate and Facilitate the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) to include:
    • SAAC Structure, Bylaws, and Meetings
    • Serve as Primary Administrator for SAAC Communication
    • Attend all AAC Student-Athlete Development/SAAC advisory meetings and serve as a liaison to the conference office in this area
    • Special Projects and Event Planning
    • Wheaties (End of Year Athletics/Academic Banquet for 300 student-athletes, coaches, and administrators
  • Coordinate and Manage Community Outreach Programs to include:
    • Coordinate Community Service Opportunities
    • Support Team Specific Outreach Efforts
    • Meet with prospective student-athletes during official and unofficial visits when applicable.
    • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional organizations.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director
    • Exhibit a level of expertise in their professional fields; must also treat the academic requirements necessary for progress toward a degree as a matter of the highest priority for the student-athletes in their charge and must actively encourage them to succeed academically and graduate.
    • Demonstrate a cooperative attitude towards all sports within the intercollegiate athletic program.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in advising, leadership, student athlete development or related field. Every 15 hours of college coursework beyond a bachelor's degree can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

Required License/Certifications/Training:

Valid Kansas drivers license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Maintain high standard of ethics and integrity related to intercollegiate athletics
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics
  • Knowledge of NCAA and conference guidelines, policies, rules and regulations with the ability to interpret, apply, enforce and explain such policies and rules
  • Maintain knowledge of state and University policies and procedures
  • Exhibit strong creative, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive attitude towards work and assignments
  • Ability to maintain and develop personal contacts with outside groups, i.e. student-athletes, faculty, academic professionals, parents, University community

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to move or traverse across campus, within buildings and offices, and/or across external environments. Ability to move, transport, and/or deliver items, supplies, or equipment.
