DUTIES: Independently interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates research assignments in a field or specialization of an engineering discipline. Formulates and conducts research on problems of considerable scope and complexity. Explores subject area and defines scope and selection of problems for investigation through conceptually related studies or series of projects of lesser scope. Essential Function 1 Applies diversified knowledge of engineering research principles, practices, and protocols in research projects; makes recommendations and conclusions which serve as the basis for decision making in a specialty area. Receives administrative supervision, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits. Responsibility 1 Evaluate the statistical methods and procedures used to obtain data to ensure validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy. Use CMH17 Stat and MMPDS Midas standards to analyze test data and produce statistical estimates and design values. Responsibility 2 Analyze and interpret statistical data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information. Take data from these types of tests and be able to spot outliers using statistical measurement tools, understand statistical principals such as mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variance, max, min, ADK (Anderson-Darling), allowables generation (Screening, A-Basis, B-basis), and ANOVA. Responsibility 3 Identify relationships and trends in data, as well as any factors that could affect the results of research.
