Job Story
ATLAS – the Advanced Technologies Lab for Aerospace Systems – is a multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment and engineering education program to prepare engineers and educators for the Factory of the Future and to aid the current workforce in seamlessly adapting to advancements in the workplace.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Assist in collecting data with ATLAS software applications.
Assist with software development on various applications.
Build, test, and deploy predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
Perform data analysis on different collected datasets.
Maintain clear documentation of methodologies, experiments, and results.
Continuously monitor model performance and retrain as necessary.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Additional Requirements
Currently a student at Wichita State University majoring in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Proficiency in programing languages as Python and c#.
Ability to use SQL and working with relational databases.
Experience in version control systems (Git).Experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, XGBoost).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
