ATLAS – the Advanced Technologies Lab for Aerospace Systems – is a multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment and engineering education program to prepare engineers and educators for the Factory of the Future and to aid the current workforce in seamlessly adapting to advancements in the workplace. We are seeking an NDI Technician Level I to join our team.
Job Summary
Performs non-destructive inspection on aircraft components, test articles, and detail parts using pre-approved procedures to identify and notify Level II and/or Level III Technician of any problems in a timely manner. May direct and/or train undergraduate and graduate assistants in the performance of daily laboratory activities with the objective of achieving optimal quality control, process implementation and project performance. Follows laboratory procedures and techniques according to appropriate standards.
Essential Functions
Performs non-destructive inspection on aircraft components, test articles, and detail parts using pre-approved procedures to identify delamination, voids, porosity, cracks, corrosion, and/or mechanical damage.
Sets up, calibrates, and operates equipment for inspection.
Conducts tests with appropriate NDI technique(s).
Interprets, evaluates, and documents inspection results under the direct supervision of NDI Technician Level II or III.
Identifies and notifies Technician Level II and/or III of any problems in a timely manner.
Obtains and analyzes information skillfully.
Edits and presents numerical data effectively.
Follows laboratory procedures and techniques according to appropriate standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
NDT technical program meeting SNT-TC1A, and/or NAS-410
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform research in a laboratory setting.
Ability to operate engineering laboratory equipment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to position self for inspection, construction or maintenance of equipment and/or buildings including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces.
Ability to inspect and/or surveil materials, equipment, reports, and/or incidents and identify any errors, needs and/or determining factors.
Ability to move, transport, and/or deliver items, supplies, or equipment.
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation.
