Job Story
The University Event and Meeting Services Student Assistant supports the coordination and execution of campus events, including evenings and mostly weekends. Responsibilities include event setup and breakdown (e.g., AV equipment, furniture, and refreshments), on-site event monitoring, and post-event cleanup. The role can also involve data entry, running errands, and performing general office tasks as needed to ensure smooth event operations.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
1. Assist with monitoring campus events
2. Complete setup for events, including AV equipment, tables/chairs and beverages
3. Clean up after events. Can include trash pick-up, vacuuming, wiping down tables, etc.
4. Enter data in databases
5. Run errands
6. Other office duties as assigned
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Information for Posting
This position will typically work 4-8 hour shifts and can work between any of the following hours depending on events, up to 30 hours per week. The scheduler will work around class schedules. This position will average 15-20 hours depending on event schedules.
1. M-F 3:00 pm - Midnight
2. Saturday or Sunday 6:00 am - Midnight
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
