Job Story
The NIAR AMP lab is looking for a research assistant to help with various tasks throughout the lab.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Front Desk Support: Assist with daily front desk operations, including greeting visitors, answering phone calls, and handling inquiries.
Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative duties such as scheduling, correspondence, and data entry.
Lab Assistance: Provide support to the entire lab, helping with general tasks and projects as needed.
Technical Proficiency: Utilize Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, to complete tasks efficiently.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth and efficient lab operations.
Procurement Support: Assist with procurement and inventory activities as directed.
Other: There will be a variety of other activities assisting managers and other departments that are not listed in the job description above.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Additional Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to move, transport, and/or deliver items, supplies, or equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Current Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in classes at WSU or WSUTech.
Availability: Able to commit to working 20 hours per week.
Transportation: Reliable means of transportation.
Experience: Prior experience in an administrative or related role is preferred.
Professionalism: Consistent, professional dress and manner.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks. Team Contribution: Able to contribute positively as part of a team, assisting with various tasks as required. Must be coachable and open to feedback.
Physical Requirements
