Job Story
Employees of Boats and Bikes are responsible for day-to-day operations of the Boats and Bikes equipment and event rental shop in downtown Wichita, including but not limited to customer service, daily sales, cash management, equipment maintenance, water safety, risk management, special events. The position works closely with the Director of Operations of Boats and Bikes and Shocker Rowing professionals.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
1. Opening and closing procedures,
2. Managing the cash register system,
3. Cashiering retail sales and rental sales,
4. Checking in and out rental equipment
5. Helping patrons on and off watercraft or land activities,
6. Informing patrons how to use equipment,
7. Moving equipment around facility,
8. Facility set up and tear down,
9. Equipment and facility maintenance,
10. Daily reports,
11. Follow water safety procedures and best practices,
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills;
· Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills;
· Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including semester breaks, summer season, evenings and weekends as needed;
· Ability and willingness to work outside at Boats and Bikes-related events, including inclement weather through the seasons.

Required Experience

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in sales
· Customer Service Experience
· Experience with rental equipment (Kayaks, SUPS, Pedal Boats, Bikes, Rowing Shells, Trikkes, Scooters)
· Experience with driving a motorboat

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
