Job Summary
Identifies, develops and qualifies new inspectors in support of current and future research programs. Provides subject matter expertise and guidance during inspections in program level audits. Provides training and examinations, creates standards, and generates inspection processes. Safely and efficiently inspects finished goods, products, and materials in a timely and professional manner to ensure that quality standards are met.
Essential Functions
Safely and efficiently inspects finished goods, products, and materials in a timely and professional manner to ensure quality standards are met. Performs non-destructive inspection on aircraft components, test articles, and detail parts using pre-approved procedures to identify cracks, corrosion, or mechanical damage. Provides subject matter expertise and guidance during inspections in program level audits. Provides training and examinations, creates standards, and generates inspection processes. Reviews and approves component inspection specifications, writes detailed technical reports and procedures for supplier documentation, and maintains internal procedures and processes. Completes all related documentation. Conducts and assists with structural teardown and test activities . Supervises students to ensure satisfactory completion of research projects.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Five (5) years of related experience. Every 30 hours of college coursework can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
Required License/Certifications/Training
NDI Level III Certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform research in a laboratory setting.
Ability to operate engineering laboratory equipment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs.
Ability to position self for inspection, construction or maintenance of equipment including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces.
Ability to inspect work, materials, equipment, and/or supplies and identify any errors, needs, and/or determining factors.
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation.
