Preparing course materials and lectures, Coordinating or supervising recitations, Assisting with problem-solving sessions or laboratory sections, Monitoring classroom exams, and Grading papers or other assessments.
Job Summary
The primary function of a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) is to assist with instruction. GTAs have the latitude to make independent decisions, use judgment and exercise discretion when dealing with student matters. The main purpose and responsibility of GTAs is to impart knowledge or training to students at Wichita State University.
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree
Additional Requirements
Must be a degree bound graduate student
Cumulative GPA 2.75 or higher
Must be enrolled full-time (9 hours) during Fall/Spring
Required Experience
To be eligible for an assistantship, students must be admitted to a degree program in either full or conditional standing. Students admitted on probation or placed on academic probation following admission may be eligible for assistantship awards under certain circumstances.
Additional Information for Posting
Assist faculty member in preparation and execution of a course.
Must passed a Spoken English Screening Form (SESF).
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
