Work Schedule: 40 hours per week; hours vary. Evenings and weekends may be required. Work is required to be performed in-person and on-site.

Job Summary
Performs the various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologist. Coordinates daily workflow of tasks and activities in the surgical pathology area with regard to routine and special procedures.
Essential Functions
Performs specimen collection, accessioning and logging routines.
Assists with tissue grossing procedures.
Performs preventive maintenance and quality-control procedures.
Prepares tissues for pathologist review including, but not limited to, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
Contributes to general laboratory functions and institutional needs.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in relevant field of science
Required License/Certifications/Training
Histotechnologist (HTL) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to multi-task and think critically
Ability to exude a professional and positive demeanor
Ability to communicate positively and effectively in both written and verbal expression
Physical Requirements
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation.
Ability to inspect and/or surveil materials, equipment, reports, and/or incidents and identify any errors, needs and/or determining factors.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
