Job Story
The College of Health Professions Dental Hygiene Program is seeking applications for a Department Chair and Program Director to be hired as Non Tenure Eligible with the possibility of Tenure Track eligibility. The department chair and program director is responsible for departmental organization and administration to include admissions, budget, personnel, program development, faculty development, course scheduling, and strategic planning; oversight of activities related to ongoing program assessment and accreditation; and general effectiveness of the programs and faculty. This position is also responsible for guiding the creative/scholarly activity of the department; and for promoting collaborative scholarship and interprofessional educational programs within the College of Health Professions. This position ensures carrying out the regular duties of a faculty member related to teaching, student advising, scholarly activities, and service to the university and community. As a member of the college's Executive Council, the department chair and program director must be fully engaged in the adaptive challenges facing the college.

Faculty Requirements
- Masters in Dental Hygiene or related field
- Formal education as a Dental Hygienist from CODA accredited dental hygiene program
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience in a dental hygiene educational program
- Minimum 2 years of professional practice as a dental hygienist
Required License/Certifications/Training:
- Current license to practice as a Dental Hygienist in Kansas
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Experience with academic issues related to education and accreditation requirements
- Contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas, and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and student evaluation
- Demonstrate ability to provide effective leadership for the program including, fiscal management, and faculty evaluation
- Demonstrate the academic and professional qualifications and relevant experience in higher education requisite for providing effective leadership for the program, the program faculty, and the students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidence of effective leadership and management
- Record of successful scholarship
- Experience in a collaborative/interprofessional team environment
- Prior university academic departmental administration experience
