Join Wichita State Athletics Dance Team!
Wichita State Athletics is searching for their next dance head coach and is looking for a professional, service-focused individual.
This position is responsible for organizing practices, game day performances, University events and community appearances. Additional duties include the daily administration and supervision of dancers, recruiting, fundraising, coordinating tryouts and dance camps, scheduling and being present at practices and athletic events specified by the Athletics Department, scheduling and overseeing group competitions, routines and travel, monitoring academic progress and eligibility status of student dancers.
Job Duties
• Develop and execute a strategy for building a regionally and nationally competitive team.
• Oversee the plan for season, including competitive schedule and practices, i.e., facilities, practice schedule, supervise travel arrangements for away competition.
• Assists in choreography for all sidelines and dances used for Men’s and Women’s Basketball games and extra events.
• Produce/edit music for special event performances as needed.
• Assists in organization of events such as but not limited to clinics and workshops on and off campus.
• Drills the team in execution of cheers, sidelines, technique, skills and routines. Explain and demonstrate principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of the body to achieve proficiency in movement.
• Provides a positive learning environment for team members.
• Manages budget, equipment procurement, team travel for postseason and nationals, etc.
• Manages uniform inventory, re-purchasing and yearly gear ordering.
• Organizes fundraisings and booster cultivation.
• Monitors affiliated professional organizations.
• Serves in administrative assignments.
• Assist in the development of strategies to increase visibility and attendance at home and away events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
Associate's degree
At least 2 years of coaching experience
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Able to work effectively both independently and on a team.
Exemplify a strong commitment and willingness to provide outstanding service.
Strong communication skills
Ability to connect with a diverse population.
Commitment to the highest level of student-athlete welfare.
