Pay: Range begins at $42,700 and is commensurate with experience

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm, additional nights and weekends required on regular basis

Job Summary

Develops, implements, and executes programs and services to meet the needs of students. Responsible for programming, recruitment and/or retention of students, training, partners with other University resources, and serves as a resource for all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests.

Essential Functions

Plans, coordinates, executes and assesses programs and other related events in conjunction with student organizations, other University departments, and community partners. Plans, coordinates, executes and assesses trainings, in conjunction with student organizations, other University departments, and community partners. May serve as a resource, consultant and liaison to the campus community on student issues. In collaboration with leadership, regularly assesses all programs and services the office provides for effectiveness as well as assist in daily administration. May support the programs by performing responsibilities which may include creating and maintaining databases and websites, monitoring, facilitating, and enforcing compliance with established criteria, guidelines and standards, etc. May provide ongoing monitoring and tracking of program budgets.

Job Duties

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, the Coordinator of Leadership Programs is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of initiatives that support, challenge, and enhance student engagement through leadership development. This role leads the creation, execution, and assessment of leadership programs designed to enrich the co-curricular experiences of student leaders.

The coordinator will report to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Belonging. The Coordinator may supervise a student intern or graduate assistant.

• Develop, promote, plan and execute a comprehensive leadership development programming curriculum.

• Plans, coordinates, executes, and assesses programs and other related initiatives to provide leadership development opportunities to students, other University departments, and community partners

• Coordinate series of programs and/or workshops for students that emphasize personal and professional development.

• Connect the University community with existing leadership opportunities sponsored by student organizations and campus departments.

• Review and analyze the assessment results of current campus needs regarding community growth and resource needs.

• Assist in writing the curriculum for retreats, trainings, and programs.

• Support all programs and initiatives coordinated by the department.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • One (1) year of experience in student programming or related field. Every 15 hours of graduate college coursework beyond a bachelor's degree can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing, coordinating, and executing leadership development programming.
    Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of assessments, inventories, and evaluations related to leadership development.
    Demonstrated skills in leadership; providing guidance and support, inspiring others to action and inciting change, performing in an ethical and professional manner.
    Ability to organize information/tasks in an efficient manner, attention to detail, meet established deadlines and ability to make accurate decisions.
    Strong communication skills including communicating effectively in written, electronic, and verbal formats; keeping others informed of news, procedures, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in assessment, both qualitative and quantitative. Experience with student tracking and student learning outcomes.
    Experience or familiarity with CliftonStrengths® and strengths-based approaches.
    Coaching certification in one or more leadership development inventories or assessments.

We provide dynamic programs, which range from speakers and documentaries to award ceremonies and cultural festivities — each representing a small piece of the community displayed on the WSU campus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information. Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to move, transport, and/or deliver items, supplies, or equipment. Ability to move or traverse across campus, within buildings and offices, and/or across external environments.

Additional Physical Requirement:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to constantly move objects.
