Job Story
The Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards is a dynamic position playing a crucial role in student success at the University. This position will serve as an advocate and resource for students and aid in providing and maintaining a safe and responsible campus community. The ability to build effective relationships across the University and manage unpredictable workloads are critical to success in the position.
Job Summary
Manages day-to-day operations of student conduct and academic integrity program(s) and services including leading investigations, University education, and fostering a climate of responsible decision making among students and related individuals. Provides leadership and direction for the development and implementation of policies, strategies and procedures for student housing, conduct and community standard services. Mitigates University risk in the adjudication of cases, provides training and outreach to faculty, staff and students, provides consultation on student conduct issues and assures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Works with other University offices to support an atmosphere of intentional inclusion on campus.
Essential Functions
Oversees the development and continuous improvement of conduct, academic integrity, and student housing policies, processes, and programs. Leads and supervises a team that support one (1) or more functional areas. Oversees staff work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution. Evaluates performance and recommends staff changes. Motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance objectives. Establishes, defines, plans, communicates, and implements long range strategic goals and objectives to meet evolving trends in student conduct and academic integrity concerns. Directs and evaluates all student conduct and community standards and housing activities, and ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Develops, monitors and adjusts budget plan as resource requirements change. Facilitates appropriate reporting for compliance including but not limited to working with the development of the Annual Security Report for the university, collaborating with the office adjudicating Title IX issues, assisting with student eligibility compliance, etc. Develops and conducts training for faculty, staff and students. Creates, monitors, and assesses a comprehensive student conduct database and provides university-wide system training and direction.
Job Duties
- Provide leadership and oversight for the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, ensuring alignment with institutional mission and values
- Administer the student conduct and academic integrity process in accordance with the university’s Code of Conduct, upholding principles of fairness, equity, and due process.
- Investigate and adjudicate alleged violations of university policies, including academic integrity, behavioral misconduct, and community standards.
- Oversee case management protocols, database systems (e.g., Maxient), and reporting metrics for conduct trends and behavioral concerns.
- Collaborate with the Title IX Office, CARE Team, Housing & Residence Life, Academic Affairs, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated student support and compliance.
- Train and supervise professional staff, graduate assistants, and student conduct board members; provide professional development and continuing education.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations including FERPA, Clery Act, Title IX, and other applicable laws.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in education administration, counseling or related field
- Five (5) years of experience in conduct resolution and managing student services program or related field, with two (2) years of experience in a leadership role. Every 15 hours of graduate college coursework beyond a bachelor's degree can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

- Understanding of student conduct, academic integrity, housing policies, Title IX, and compliance reporting.
- Familiarity with student behavior theories, conflict resolution, and community-building strategies.
- Awareness of laws governing student housing, security reports, and academic integrity enforcement.
- Knowledge of financial planning, resource allocation, and institutional budgeting processes.
- Expertise in setting long-term goals, adapting to trends, and improving student-related initiatives.
- Understanding of student conduct databases, analytics, and reporting tools.
- Ability to supervise, motivate, and evaluate a team, ensuring operational success.
- Skilled in creating and refining policies that align with legal and institutional requirements.
- Strong ability to present information, train staff and students, and foster clear dialogue across departments.
- Capable of addressing student conduct issues effectively and diplomatically.
- Ability to analyze complex situations and make informed, strategic decisions.
- Ability to oversee multiple functions and responsibilities efficiently.

- Ability to maintain data base system (Maxient) and provide training for campus community.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Maxient data base.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
