Job Story
The NIAR ATLAS lab is looking for a student assistant to help with program management.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Assist the Program Manager in updating project schedules, tracking milestone completions, and monitoring action items.
Organize, archive, and route engineering project data, customer deliverables, and compliance records.
Coordinate meeting logistics, prepare agendas, and take highly accurate, technical meeting minutes for client and research review teams.
Help compile internal project status metrics, charts, and presentation decks for leadership reviews.
Serve as an internal point of contact to follow up with multidisciplinary engineering teams on overdue project inputs.
Perform general operational and office administration tasks as assigned to streamline laboratory operations.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Additional Requirements
Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at WSU in Industrial Engineering, Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a closely related field in good academic standing.
Basic understanding of project management lifecycle phases or engineering design workflows.
Excellent technical written and oral communication skills to interact professionally with cross-functional teams.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and a demonstrated ability to execute assigned tasks independently.
Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary research lab environment.
Capable of performing standard duties involving standing, walking, and remaining in a stationary position operating office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or familiarity with project tracking software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Trello, or 3DEXPERIENCE platform).
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Additional Information
Work will be done on campus at the NIAR building as well as Sector A.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
