You’ll work closely with individuals across campus to ensure ADA compliance also reviewing complaints and work to remove barriers to accessing education. From implementing workplace accommodations under Title I to ensuring compliance with Title II and other federal and state disability laws, you’ll be the go-to expert for navigating the complex but meaningful work of disability rights and institutional compliance.

You’ll be an active presence across campus, working directly with employees, students, committees, and leadership to promote accessibility, mediate concerns, and ensure that our institution is not only compliant but also truly inclusive. Job Summary

Coordinates and monitors the University’s compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act: Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and other federal, state, and local laws pertaining to accommodation and accessibility. Plays an instrumental role in coordinating the University’s Self-Assessment and Transition plan incorporating comprehensive short and long-term strategic plans for ADA compliance and disabilities service functions and initiatives to enhance operations, programs, and services.

Essential Functions

Monitors compliance with University’s policies, procedures, and programs to promote opportunities for persons with disabilities including students, employees, visitors, and members of the University community. Serves as the primary University point of contact for overseeing compliance, ensures continual efforts for access and inclusivity in educational programming, activities, and employment. Coordinates with various University departments with campus-wide responsibilities relating to compliance. Ensures that appropriate processes are in place to provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of complaints and inquiries from University students, employees, and the public, regarding compliance with the ADA and other applicable federal and state laws regarding discrimination on the basis of disability. Investigates allegations of discrimination and non-compliance under the ADA and other applicable federal and state laws regarding discrimination on the basis of disability. Develops and maintains written materials to disseminate information regarding the ADA and the University’s policies relating to persons with disabilities. Develops and implements educational presentations for students and employees on the provision of equal opportunity for persons with disabilities. Responsible for or assists in the development and/or administration of budgets in areas of responsibility.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in education administration, counseling, psychology or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in leading disability services directly related to medical and psychological documentation and accommodation resolutions or related field

Required License/Certifications/Training:

ADA Coordinator Certification Program (ACTCP) or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to address complaints by utilizing the interactive process, conducting formal investigations, and escalating matters to leadership as necessary.

  • General knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other applicable laws and regulations.  

  • Balanced approach to enforcing policy, ensuring compliance, and serving as a resource leading to other resources.

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach by assessing the needs of the campus community and implementing best practices.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
