Work Schedule: 8am - 5pm; Monday through Friday with opportunities for occasional weekday evenings or weekends

Job Summary

Assist in the delivery of patient care under the direction of a licensed health care provider in the clinical environment.

Essential Functions

• Contribute to the assessment of patients and assure the well-being of patients.
• Assist provider with physical exam, procedures and treatments.
• Administer medications and vaccinations and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
• Perform venipuncture, laboratory CLIA-waived tests and therapeutic services.
• Coordinates patient scheduling, referrals, and follow-up care. Assist in administrative tasks such as collecting payment and billing.
• Ability to maintain patient HIPAA confidential information and comply with all healthcare laws, regulations, and standards.

Job Duties

  • Support entire healthcare team by working closely to provide direct medical care.
  • Measure and record vital signs and document accurately in medical records
  • Collect laboratory specimens
  • Administer vaccinations and medications as ordered by healthcare providers.
  • Ensure cleanliness and readiness of medical equipment, supplies and exam rooms.
  • Schedule appointments, collect payment and insurance, and complete referrals and order diagnostic tests.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Vocational/Technical graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
  • One (1) year of experience in medical clinic setting beyond externship and clinicals.

Required License/Certifications/Training:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification prior to hire.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification and Healthcare Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced certification to be completed within one (1) month of hire date.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in performing clinical tasks such as taking vital signs
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • A compassionate, patient-centered approach to providing care
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Attention to detail and adherence to care protocols

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree
  • One year of experience in primary care, family medicine or urgent care clinic.

Preferred License/Certifications/Training:

Electronic health records and other medical software
Microsoft products
HIPAA training
Bloodborne pathogen training

Additional Physical Requirement:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to constantly move objects.
