Associate Director of Residence Life & Educational Engagement

Hire Type: Full Time

Pay: Starts at $56,000. Commensurate with experience

Work Schedule: 8-5pm, Monday - Friday

Job Summary

Manages housing staff and student and/or community engagement plans and programs. Evaluates and formulates reports to assess and determine level of success on key performance goals.

Essential Functions

Oversees the supervision of staff including work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution. Evaluates performance and recommends staff changes. Motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance objectives. Assists with the establishment and communication of strategic goals and objectives, and implements action plans. Manages program assessment(s), marketing, academic engagement and/or student care responses, and evaluates success compared to desired outcomes. Recommends revisions to program(s) in accordance with data metrics. Develops and/or maintains positive and effective relationships with university departments to enhance the residential student experience. Manages operations, staff, and participant logistics for assigned engagement program(s) which may include management of emergency response staffing and procedures.

Job Duties

The Associate Director for Residence Life & Educational Engagement is responsible for the oversight of the Residence Life team and the academic initiatives within housing. This includes supervision of 4 full time staff, and indirect supervision of 5 Graduate Assistants, and approximately 30 student staff members (Resident Assistants). The Associate Director sits on the Housing Leadership Team and serves in Senior Level On-call rotation.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in education administration, counseling or related field
  • Three (3) years of experience in university housing or related field, with one (1) year of experience in a supervisory role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • 5 years of experience within Housing
 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information. Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to move, transport, and/or deliver items, supplies, or equipment. Ability to move or traverse across campus, within buildings and offices, and across external environments. Ability to position self for inspection, construction or maintenance of equipment and/or buildings including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces.

Additional Physical Requirement:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to constantly move objects.
