Job Story
The Dental Hygiene department has an opening for a 10-month Assistant Educator/Assistant Teaching professor. This position's responsibilities are to provide instruction to dental hygiene students and presentation to AEGD residents and Clinical Dental Hygiene Faculty Practice as appropriate; support the missions of the department, the college, and the university; participate in faculty meetings, student recruitment and advising, curriculum development and review, and other department activities as appropriate; develop and maintain relationships with all program faculty; participate in department, college, university, community, and professional service; use technology to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of instruction and the department; monitor and facilitate ethical and professional behaviors; serve as mentors, peer counselors, and as colleagues for teaching, and clinical projects. The faculty member may have didactic, laboratory, and clinical teaching responsibilities in the entry level or completion degree Bachelor of Science.
Job Summary

To foster applied learning into the course design and engage with industry and local business community applied projects. To advance knowledge through scholarly activities (e.g., active involvement in committees, student mentorship, recruitment and retention initiative, outreach activities, etc.)

Job Duties
Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels using various instructional deliveries (e.g., traditional (face-to-face), hybrid, and fully online). To advance knowledge through scholarly activities (e.g., active involvement in committees, student mentorship, recruitment and retention initiative, outreach activities, etc.)
Faculty Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene program
- Bachelor’s Degree in dental hygiene or other related discipline
- One year of dental hygiene clinical experience including periodontal therapy
Required License/Certifications/Training:
Licensure in Kansas-Registered Dental Hygienist, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide Certificate(s)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Computer skills (proficient in Microsoft office and familiarity with learning management systems)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field
- Experience in dental hygiene related education
