Applicants whose technical interests complement the department’s existing strengths are well positioned to be part of the multidisciplinary team and are of particular interest.
Thanks to our location in the "Air Capital of the World" and various industry partner companies on our campus, students have many opportunities to get real-world experience. Our applied learning approach means hands-on experiences in the classroom and beyond. The department boasts a strong undergraduate and graduate aeronautics and astronautics curriculum. The areas of focus are structures, composites, engineering mechanics, applied/ computational/ experimental aerodynamics, controls and flight simulation.
Our cooperative education program is among the best in the country, facilitating placements for students while they are in school. This program gives students the opportunity to work for Innovation Campus partners, in the local area and at NASA centers— gaining real-world experience and making contacts in aerospace and other industries that hire our graduates.
