Job Story
University Libraries seeking energetic student to help with the service, maintenance, and knowledge of WSU Library stacks. Must be available to work weekends, ideally Friday through Monday.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Duties include:
-squatting, bending, lifting, and other physical work.
-Lifting materials weighing between 5 pounds and 50 pounds around the library for various needs.
-Shifting and re-organizing of library books and other materials.
-Cleaning of shelving components, stacks, and other library areas.
-Gathering statistics for projects as requested by the staff.
-Required to move about inside the library to complete assigned job tasks.
-Occasional exposure to dust and book debris.
-Other duties as assigned.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements
-Must be available to work weekends, ideally Friday through Monday, up to 20 hours per week.
-Enrolled at WSU.
-Good communication skills.
-Ability to work within a team.
-Basic time management skills.
-Able to follow written and oral instructions
