Job Story
Wichita State Connect is seeking a creative, organized, and motivated student assistant pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Strategic Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.

This position will primarily support the promotion and visibility of Wichita State Connect programs, events, and initiatives through graphic design, social media management, content creation, and communications efforts. The student assistant will also provide general office and event support as needed.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student looking to gain hands-on experience in higher education marketing, event promotion, community engagement, and professional communications.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
Communications, Marketing & Design
• Create graphics and promotional materials for Wichita State Connect programs and events using Adobe and other design platforms.
• Develop engaging content for social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other university channels.
• Schedule and manage social media posts according to content calendars.
• Assist with photography, video content, and event coverage when applicable.
• Support marketing campaigns for campus and community engagement initiatives.
• Draft and edit promotional content, newsletters, flyers, and digital communications.
• Help maintain consistent branding across Wichita State Connect communications.
Office & Event Support
• Attend staff meetings and planning meetings as requested.
• Assist with event planning, logistics, and execution for Wichita State Connect initiatives, including:
o Open Streets ICT
o Elementary & Middle School Campus Experiences
o Shocker Community Night
o Community engagement events and workshops
• Represent Wichita State Connect by tabling at university events such as:
o Involvement Fair
o Community outreach events
• Assist with office organization, inventory management, and administrative projects.
• Support data entry and maintenance of spreadsheets, databases, and program records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Preferred Qualifications
• Current Wichita State University student.
• Pursuing a degree in Communications, Strategic Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Adobe, Canva and social media platforms.
• Basic graphic design skills and an eye for visual storytelling.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Interest in community engagement, higher education, and event planning.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
