Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm. Some weekends and evenings will be required to support events.;work is performed on-site and in person.

If so, Wichita State University is seeking a dynamic and experienced legal professional to serve as the inaugural Manager of Student Legal Services! This leadership role provides direct legal services to students and support of the strategic oversight of the newly established program. This position is ideal for a licensed attorney with courtroom experience, a strong public service orientation, and the ability to lead a small team in a dynamic, student-centered environment. The successful candidate will have strong communication, leadership, and program development skills.

Job Summary

Manage, coordinate, and administer the day-to-day activities of student legal services programs and services. Oversee the implementation and evaluation of student legal services, ensuring alignment with University goals and initiatives and compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

Essential Functions

• Provide legal consultations, advocacy, and full legal representation to eligible students on a variety of criminal and civil matters; including performing conflict of interest checks related to representation.
• Design and conduct student education, training and outreach initiatives in alignment with programming goals and objectives.
• Establish sustainable processes, key performance metrics, management tools and reporting capabilities. Utilize data to develop new or revise current programs and services. Communicate quality and progress metrics to department, staff, and/or stakeholders.
• Cultivate new and expand existing strategic partnerships and lead initiatives to support program success. Consult with stakeholders to assess needs and ensure effective support.
• Oversee program budget according to needs. Monitor and adjust plans as resource requirements change.
• Supervise assigned staff; including performance management, work allocation, training, promotion and enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution. Evaluate performance and make recommendations for staff actions.

Required Education and Experience:

• Juris Doctorate degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited institution and admission to the Kansas State Bar
• Four (4) years of experience as a practicing attorney, with one (1) year in a leadership role.

Required License/Certifications/Training:

Licensed to practice law in the state of Kansas.
