Job Story
This position provides office support of the general, day-to-day administrative, operational and clerical tasks related to the office.
Provide a professional, helpful, welcoming atmosphere and a positive attitude for faculty, staff, students, families, callers and visitors of the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Provide coverage for the front desk including answering phones, transfer calls, take messages; send and receive faxes, e-mails on behalf of the staff Receive and process department paperwork. Assist with projects as required (i.e. prepare materials for distribution, create spreadsheets, event set-up, etc.) Assist Vice President, Associate Vice President, Assistant Vice President, Executive Assistant and other staff as requested. Maintain office inventory. Run errands across campus to deliver documents and materials. Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
Serve as the first point of contact for the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs by welcoming visitors and providing courteous, professional customer service.
Answer and direct phone calls, respond to general inquiries, and assist with front desk coverage.
Provide general support to Student Affairs leadership and staff, including the Vice President and administrative team.
Monitor and maintain office supplies and inventory.
Perform campus errands, including delivering documents and materials across campus as needed.
Contribute to a positive, welcoming office environment and provide excellent service to students, families, faculty, and staff.

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements
Demonstrate strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse campus population.
Exhibit effective verbal and written communication skills for phone, email, and in-person interactions.
Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and office documents.
Show strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
