Job Story
Student lifeguard will prevent injuries and make sure that people follow the rules and guidelines of the facility by warning people of unsafe activities and enforce water safety policies.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
Lifeguard safeguards all patrons; rescues swimmers in distress and administers first aid and artificial respiration when necessary; gives swimming instruction in pool; maintains order and discipline in pool and surrounding area to prevent accidents in and out of the water; helps to maintain and keep area clean.

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements
Current American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification

Required Experience
This is specific to each position and department. See additional requirements and preferences.

Preferred Qualifications
American Red Cross or YMCA LGI certification, WSI or YSL certification

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
