Job Story
Serve as the first point of contact for the GEEKs Tutoring Center by providing outstanding customer service to students, faculty, and visitors while supporting the daily operations of the center.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
• Welcome students and visitors to the tutoring center.
• Check students in and out for tutoring appointments.
• Answer questions regarding tutoring services and center operations.
• Maintain accurate records and assist with daily administrative tasks.
• Monitor the tutoring space and communicate operational concerns to professional staff.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements
MUST BE WORK-STUDY ELIGIBLE.
• Must be enrolled as a Wichita State University student.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Dependable with consistent attendance.
• Ability to work independently after training.
Required Experience

Preferred Qualifications
• Currently a College of Engineering student.
• Previous customer service or office experience.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Familiarity with Wichita State resources is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
