Job Story
The NIAR Engineering Design and Mod team is looking for a student assistant to support various diverse program efforts as a structural analysis student assistant.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area in which the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Analysis of airframe structural components using hand analysis and Finite Element Analysis software. Analysis can include static, dynamic, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessment. The structural analysis intern will utilize CAD Modeling software, 2D drawings, and Finite Element Analysis software to perform their tasks.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Working towards a degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Sophomore or higher preferred.
Experience and interest in Finite Element Analysis Software. FEMAP, Patran, and NASTRAN preferred.
Experience with CAD. (CATIA V5, 3DX, Solidworks).
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Excellent time management and critical thinking skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
