Job Story
The Strategic Initiatives office is looking for a student assistant to help with content for social media, website development, event planning, and staff support.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
- Complete assigned duties as requested, with attention to deadline requests and priority
assignments.
- Create engaging content for social media platforms and websites.
- Monitor and track analytics for social media accounts and websites.
- Assist in developing compelling copy for newsletters, email campaigns, and promotional
materials.
- Update and maintain the department website with new content, events, and information.
- Assist with surveys (development, maintenance, and distribution), i.e. Qualtrics and Google
Forms.
- Conduct market research to understand program and participant needs, preferences, and
competitor landscape.
- Provide event and meeting support by assisting with event planning and execution,
including registration, promotion, and on-site logistics.
- Team projects, special projects, and WSU Strategic Initiatives staff support (as assigned &
capacity permits).
- General copying and filing, as requested
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent communication and writing skills
Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing tools
Basic graphic design skills or ability to learn design software
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Interest in marketing trends and best practices
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
