Campus Location: Wichita, KS - WSU Main Campus

Hire Type: Full Time

Pay: Range $39,700/yr, adjusted based on qualifications

Work Schedule: General business hours; Evenings regularly during recruitment season & a couple of wknds in the year; work is performed on-site and in person.

Export Compliance Requirement: No export control requirement.

Job Story

Be the person who builds the relationship, answers questions, coordinates visits, maintains communication, and guide prospective students through the enrollment process. Just like that Wichita State has a new student on campus! You made that happen!

The position serves as a primary point of contact for prospective undergraduate students and families, manages recruitment territories, represents W. Frank Barton School of Business at events, and helps convert interest into applications and enrollment.

We are looking for someone who can meet students where they are, communicate clearly, build trust quickly, and keep the recruitment pipeline growing. You're not afraid to chat with others about higher education & get excited by being able to tell people about WSU & all it has to offer!

Job Summary

Collaborates with faculty and staff in a specific college, department, program or specific focal area to coordinate and expand student recruitment efforts. Serves as the coordinator for schools and organizations that align with the recruitment strategy. Aligns scholarship resources with recruitment goals. Coordinates scholarship competitions and promoted scholarship opportunities to qualified students.

Essential Functions

Represents specific University colleges, departments or programs at specified schools, college and community fairs, public presentations, and/or seminars. Participates in on and off campus recruitment programs, including group presentations; greets walk-in and scheduled visitors; maintains knowledge of all facets of the University. May develop, coordinate and execute all aspects of event planning for recruitment and scholarships to facilitate effective presentation of programs or events. Coordinates with related departments to facilitate recruitment, outreach, and/or marketing of related programs and services. May lead staff in the design and implementation of communications and educational content. Monitors scholarship compliance with program rules and regulations, provides status updates, and monitors student academic progress as required. Identifies, promotes and targets scholarships to eligible students. Collaborates with University staff and students to foster academic success.

Job Duties

Event planning & full execution - AGH scholarship
Plan, organize & inform all team members of the event yearly. This includes participants, catering, venue & other aspects needed for a successful event to occur.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 60 hours of college course work in education or business 
  • Four (4) years of experience in recruiting, retention, admissions, or related fields. An additional 60 hours of college coursework beyond the minimum can be substituted for two (2) years of experience.

Required License/Certifications/Training:

Valid Kansas drivers license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to build strong relationships and rapport quickly.
    public speaking abilities.
  • Knowledge of event planning aspects
  • Familiar with higher ed admissions process and key university personnel
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with students, families, and institutional partners
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems and other relevant tools
  • Ability to travel regionally and work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
  • Organized and able to accomplish deadline needs
  • Capable of maintain confidentiality
  • Comfortable engaging with diverse populations

Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
