Job Summary

Provides analysis and support of software and processes within the assigned functional area which may include, but is not limited to configuration, testing, documentation, support, maintenance and training for solutions, and working closely with business users, leaders, and technical users throughout the lifecycle of a system and/or project.

Essential Functions

Provides development, analysis and support for systems. Works closely with business users and managers to refine, develop and prioritize business goals and process enhancements. Provides system support, including implementation, testing, training, new releases, and vendor coordination. Works closely with business users and managers to understand, refine and prioritize business goals and information needs. Manages and supports applications, including support, upgrades and troubleshooting May provide support for interfaces.

Job Duties

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Accounts Receivable, Accounting, and Research Accounting business processes, financial transactions, internal controls, and reporting requirements to serve as a trusted business systems partner.

  • Collaborate with functional users to analyze business needs, troubleshoot complex system and data issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions that align with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and university business processes.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Financial Services stakeholders and technical teams, translating business requirements into functional specifications and ensuring successful implementation of system enhancements and process improvements.

  • Gather reporting requirements from business users and develop, test, and validate SQL queries to support operational, financial, compliance, and management reporting needs.

  • Act as the subject matter expert for financial data structures and reporting logic, partnering with the Cognos reporting team to design, test, validate, and deploy accurate and meaningful reports and dashboards.

  • Support enterprise financial applications through system testing, upgrades, integrations, documentation, training, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, standardization, data integrity, and customer service.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 60 hours of college coursework in related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in technology application support or related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze business processes, identify issues, and recommend solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial transactions, and ERP systems such as Banner or similar enterprise applications.
  • Ability to gather reporting requirements, analyze data, and validate reporting results.
  • Familiar with writing, testing, and troubleshooting SQL queries used for reporting, reconciliation, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge to investigate and resolve complex system, data, and process-related issues.
  • Ability to gather and document business requirements and effectively communicate technical solutions to functional users and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework in accounting, finance, database management, business analysis, or information systems.
  • Experience with Banner Finance, Banner Accounts Receivable, or a comparable ERP system.
  • Experience supporting Accounts Receivable, Accounting, Research Accounting, grants administration, or other financial operations.
  • Experience working with TouchNet, Cognos, Evisions, or similar enterprise applications.
  • Experience working in higher education, state government, or public sector environments.
  • Experience serving as a liaison between business users and technical teams to develop reporting solutions, troubleshoot issues, and improve business processes.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information. Ability to position self for inspection, construction or maintenance of equipment and/or buildings including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces. Ability to move, transport, and/or deliver items, supplies, or equipment.
