Job Summary
Prepares, reviews, revises, and maintains technical reports and process/policy documentation as needed. Produces technical documents through consultations with technical staff and other resources as needed.
Essential Functions
Drafts, reviews and edits technical reports in collaboration with internal partners. Gather technical information and draft technical reports; review, edit, or recommend revisions, format changes, alternative methods of information presentation, or other changes to technical reports to ensure accuracy, clarity and quality of content, and that documents meet requirements. Interpret scientific and technical information; identifies and prioritizes critical content; translates information; re-writes and edits material for clarity. Performs technical writing of policies, procedures and instructional documentation. Writes, edits, and formats various business writings such as Standard Operating Procedures, Business Practices, forms, checklists, technical manuals, user manuals, and related technical and business process documentation. Develops standard report template in alignment with program protocol and/or research sponsor's requirements. Utilizes a tracking system for program technical reports. Performs quality review of various documents and provide feedback for improving documentation and the writing process. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field
Four (4) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to integrate disparate data and/or information into a cohesive quality technical and/or business writing
Strong computer skills including MS Office suite
Excellent organization, communication, and collaboration skills, with the aptitude for critical thinking
Strong attention to detail
Expertise in English language grammar, spelling, and usage conventions and best practices in scientific writing
Physical Requirements
Ability to interpret effectively, accurately and impartially, both receptively and expressively.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to move or traverse across campus, within buildings and offices, and/or across external environments.
