Job Story
The NIAR AMP lab is looking for a student assistant to help with shipping and receiving daily materials.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
Supports daily material handling, packaging, and delivery activities for the AMP Lab. This role assists with incoming and outgoing shipments, staging materials, and maintaining the organization of the shipping and receiving area. The student must be able to safely drive a full-size pickup truck for deliveries and will also be trained and certified by Wichita State University (WSU) to operate forklifts as needed. All work must be performed in accordance with AS9100 requirements to ensure traceability and quality compliance.
Major Duties and Responsibilities.
Receive deliveries, verify packing slips, and log items into inventory per AS9100 requirements. Prepare outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, and staging for pickup with proper documentation. Transport materials, tooling, and parts between NIAR labs using carts, full-size pickup trucks, or forklifts. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shipping/receiving and inventory areas. Assist with tracking shipments and communicating delivery status to AMP staff. Support compliance with NIAR/AMP safety and AS9100 quality system requirements. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a full-size pickup truck.
Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
