Job Story
The Anthropology Student Assistant provides administrative, academic, and operational support to faculty, staff, and students within the Department of Anthropology. This position offers students an opportunity to gain professional experience in higher education while contributing to the daily functions of the department. Duties may include research or clerical duties to include data collection, management, laboratory or office operations, event assistance, data entry, and support for departmental projects and activities. Students assistants will be directly supervised by a faculty member in the Department of Anthropology.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Student assistant may preform duties such as:
Assist with research activities from an anthropological lens, including background research, data collection, laboratory management, file organization, and collections management.
Assist with filing, scanning, copying, and organizing departmental records and materials.
Perform data entry and maintain accurate departmental databases and spreadsheets.
Prepare and distribute departmental correspondence, flyers, and promotional materials.
Help organize and maintain office, laboratory, and storage spaces.
Assist with student recruitment, outreach activities, and departmental events.
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
