Job Story
As a Student Assistant in the ITS Assets Department, you will play a key role in supporting the ITS Assets Manager with day-to-day operations. This position offers hands-on experience in IT asset management and an opportunity to develop professional skills in a dynamic environment.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
• Inventorying new assets
• Updating existing departmental asset lists
• Asset pickup for disposal
• Preparing retired assets for warehouse
• Loaner laptop rentals
• Other clerical duties as assigned.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Required Experience
This is specific to each position and department. See additional requirements and preferences.
Preferred Qualifications
• Working knowledge of Windows Operating System, Mac OS, Microsoft Word.
• Professional personal presentation.
• Excellent listening and communication skills
• Excellent written communication skills
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and take initiative
• Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and new duties
• Reliability and punctuality
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
