Job Story
The ideal candidate is a creative and motivated student with an interest in branding, social media, graphic design, and strategic communication. They should have some experience creating engaging digital content and an interest in learning how to develop cohesive communication campaigns from idea to execution. We’re looking for a student who brings fresh ideas, stays curious about current communication and social media trends, and is excited to apply what they are learning in a real-world setting. Most importantly, the ideal candidate will bring curiosity, initiative, creativity, a willingness to learn, and a passion for using communication to make a meaningful impact.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
• Social Media Support: Assist in creating content to increase our presence on platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter).
• External Communications: Collaborate on messaging, design, and strategies that raise the visibility of our organization’s work through newsletters, blogs, media outreach, and digital storytelling.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience or interest in social media management, digital marketing, or communications
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
• Creativity and an eye for compelling, broad storytelling
• Familiarity with platforms like Adobe and/or Canva, and social media scheduling tools

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
