Job Story

Be the Voice. Build the Buzz. Lead the Brand.
Are you equal parts creative storyteller, digital strategist, and culture enthusiast? We are looking for someone who can do more than just post—we want someone who can connect, create, and captivate.

In this role, you won’t just follow trends—you’ll shape them. You’ll be the go-to person for elevating the university’s voice across social media platforms, engaging with students, collaborating with top-level executives, and creating moments that make people stop scrolling and start connecting.

Who We Want:

  • A Campus Connector: Outgoing, approachable, and naturally in tune with student energy and campus culture. You know how to capture the pulse of a moment.
  • A Fast-Paced Multitasker: Whether it’s pivoting between projects or shifting tone for different audiences, you move with ease and intention.
  • A Strategic Storyteller: You think ahead and plan smarter. You can map out a social media content calendar like a pro and stay on trend while staying on brand.
  • A Brand Guardian: You understand discretion, risk mitigation, and the power of thoughtful, inclusive messaging—especially in today’s fast-moving digital space.
  • A Trusted Collaborator: You work well with executives and teams alike, balancing high-level communication with grassroots engagement. You’re as comfortable pitching a campaign to leadership as you are filming with students.

Glimpse of the Job:

  • Manage the university’s primary social media channels with a focus on positive brand engagement and strategic audience growth.
  • Create and schedule engaging, platform-specific content—video, photo, stories, reels, graphics, and more.
  • Monitor and analyze trends and social conversations using Sprout Social and other tools to keep us in tune and ahead.
  • Develop and maintain a forward-looking content calendar that balances immediacy with long-range planning.
  • Support the university’s reputation through risk-sensitive monitoring and thoughtful response strategies.
  • Collaborate with university partners on content, campaigns, and promotions while maintaining a clear and consistent tone.
  • Represent the WSU brand with empathy, cultural awareness, and political neutrality.

Bonus Points If You:

  • Have a strong video editing portfolio or professional content creation experience.
  • Understand the student voice and can translate it authentically for digital channels.
  • Can spot a social media trend from a mile away—and know whether it aligns with the university's voice.

As part of Wichita State team, you’ll help shape how the world sees Shocker Nation—and how students see themselves.
If you're ready to build community, amplify voices, and tell the stories that matter most, apply now and help us make every post count.
