Work Schedule: 6:45 am - 3:30 pm Monday - Friday

Do you enjoy working outside? This Landscaper position provides opportunities to work outdoors as a member of a supportive team and have daily duties that vary according to University need. Job Summary

Maintains University grounds in a clean, attractive, orderly, safe and healthy condition. Performs grounds work that includes seeding, mowing, trimming, raking, and planting flowers, trees and shrubs. Mixes and applies pest control materials in accordance with local and federal regulations. Removes snow from pedestrian and vehicle areas.

Essential Functions

Performs landscaping care needs. Plants shrubs, trees and flowers; prunes trees and shrubs. Removes debris from stairs and walks; rakes leaves and mows lawns. Waters trees, shrubs and lawns and performs irrigation activities. Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required.
Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks and entryways as required.
Installs and removes outdoor signs, parking and traffic control barriers and overhead banners as required.
May operate large power lawn mowers, edgers, snow blowers, and hand tools.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of traffic regulations and the practices followed in the care, routine maintenance and safe operation of equipment used.
  • Knowledge of operation of motor equipment sufficient to detect abnormal operation.
  • Knowledge of work related agency operations, safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to operate light to heavy construction and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to perform manual labor in projects related to the operation of motorized equipment and to the erection of signs, snow fences and guard rails.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Ability to position self to maintain landscape, grounds, equipment and designated items.
