IDP Manager of Training and Industry Engagement

Pay: Commensurate with experience

Work Schedule: Typically, 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday.  Evenings and weekends may be required dependent upon business needs. The job is performed in person and on-site in Wichita, KS.

Export Compliance Requirement: This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet the requirement of being a “U.S. Citizen”.

Job Detail

The Manager of Training and Industry Engagement is responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing the training and business development for programs within the Midwest Criminal Justice Institute (“MCJI”) at Wichita State University.

Job Summary

Directs, coordinates, and implements the training and business development objectives of the center. Supervises and supports staff, volunteers, and students associated with programs and trainings. Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners. Serves as the lead for programs and trainings and acts as a liaison with applicable local, state, and federal agencies to develop and instruct training. Prepares and writes grants and curriculum on related topics as needed.

Essential Functions

Directs, coordinates, and implements the training and business development objectives of the center.
Supervises and supports staff, volunteers, and/or students associated with programs and trainings.
Develops new opportunities and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders, partners, and/or programs to support the mission of the university and MCJI.
Serves as the lead for programs and trainings and acts as a liaison with applicable local, state, and federal agencies to develop and instruct training. Facilitates events, trainings, and/or courses and serves as a subject matter expert for the MCJI.
Prepares and writes grants and curriculum on related topics as needed, in collaboration with internal and external partners.
Serve as an industry engagement representative for the university by collaboratively working with internal and external partners and stakeholders and traveling and/or attending events on behalf of MCJI and the university.
Assists and provides recommendations in relation to program work plans, budgets, and reports; monitors and adjusts plans as needed.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in related field.

Six (6) years of directly related experience in law enforcement or training.
Two (2) years of experience in a leadership role.

Required License/Certifications/Training

Ability to travel to events, meetings, and/or trainings; valid driver’s license required
Ability to obtain full TS/Government Clearance, and to obtain and maintain other clearance requirements as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing, presenting information, and interpersonally.
Ability to think strategically and critically.
Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships as demonstrated by work history.
Ability to apply technical knowledge to research, prepare, and write grants and curriculum.
Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of an organization to develop and implement strategies and programs.
Ability to represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.

Physical Requirements

Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not Frequent 60-90% limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
