The applied learning experience will include brand-aligned design, visual storytelling, digital asset creation, and print-ready production. These responsibilities serve as a proving ground where the student applies foundational design principles—layout, typography, color theory, accessibility, and visual hierarchy—while learning to work with real constraints, timelines, and stakeholders. This experience also supports interdisciplinary application by connecting design practice to communication strategy, student engagement, and retention-focused initiatives.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
The internship will provide meaningful, real-world experiences aligned with the student’s academic preparation and professional goals. The intern will contribute to projects that elevate the visibility of student success initiatives at WSU while developing essential skills in visual communication, branding, accessibility-conscious design, and professional collaboration.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
