A Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) focused on indirect teaching supports academic courses behind the scenes without leading front-of-class lectures, centering on grading, course material preparation, and Blackboard administration. The primary function of a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) is to assist with instruction. GTAs have the latitude to make independent decisions, use judgment and exercise discretion when dealing with student matters. The main purpose and responsibility of GTAs is to impart knowledge or training to students at Wichita State University

Additional Requirements
Grading & Assessment: Score quizzes, exams, essays, and homework assignments accurately using provided rubrics and answer keys.
Course Material Setup: Help Faculty organize and format syllabus content, lecture slides, reading lists, and multimedia resources under faculty direction.
Blackboard Administration: Help Faculty manage the online course portal (Blackboard), post announcements, update digital gradebooks, and upload files.
Student Support Services: Help Faculty hold non-instructional office hours or virtual help desks to answer student questions regarding grades, logistics, or assignment formatting. Requirements & Qualifications
Enrollment Status: Current active enrollment in a relevant graduate degree program (Master's) at Wichita State University.
Academic Standing: Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA (typically 3.0 or higher) and good academic standing in the department.
Required Experience
To be eligible for an assistantship, students must be admitted to a degree program in either full or conditional standing. Students admitted on probation or placed on academic probation following admission may be eligible for assistantship awards under certain circumstances.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
