Job Story
The Engineering Design and Mod Team is seeking a student assistant to assist with electrical design.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area in which the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
This position will support various diverse program efforts as an electrical design student assistant. Tasks include detailed 2d schematics of electrical systems, 3d routing and modeling of electrical systems, drawing creation, software tool automation, and modeling parts from existing diagrams, scans, and drawings. This role will utilize design handbooks, recommended practices, and industry standards to define engineering for electrical systems. The electrical design intern will primarily utilize Autocad, Siemens Capital, CATIA V5, and 3DX CAD software.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Sophomore or higher preferred.
Experience and interest in electrical systems, circuit analysis, and software automation.
Experience with MATLAB, AutoCAD, Visual Basic, and Python programming.
Prefer interest in CAD. CATIA V5, 3DX, or Solidworks.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
