Pay: Starting at $15.34 plus $.60 per hour shift differential and commensurate with experience

Work Schedule: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm Monday - Friday

Export Compliance Requirement: This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet the requirement of being a “U.S. Citizen”.

Job Summary

Performs specialized custodial services, such as maintenance and repair of custodial equipment, floor cleaning and finishing equipment, carpet and upholstery maintenance equipment.

Essential Functions

Maintains and performs minor repairs on custodial equipment, such as vacuums, floor and carpet cleaners, etc. Completes basic maintenance on floor care equipment. Researches sources and specifications to order parts for equipment repair and maintenance. Performs specialized custodial services such as floor cleaning and finishing, carpet and upholstery maintenance, cleaning building furnishings and/or procedures using specialty cleaning chemicals. Utilizes cleaning machinery such as scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors for floor care maintenance. Provides all floor care services including strip, wax, carpet cleaning and may provide disaster recovery for affected flooring. Cleans and services assigned areas in University buildings and maintains sufficient stock and supplies for the proper performance of these duties. Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks and entryways as required.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience in custodial equipment repair

Required License/Certifications/Training:

  • Valid Driver's License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn the operation and care of equipment, including, but not limited to: vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and other janitorial equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively with fellow workers and others.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Ability to understand and follow explicit instructions, both in oral and written form.
  • Ability and willingness to perform any of a variety of routine cleaning tasks.
 

Additional Information:

Due to ITAR regulations, the candidate must be a US Citizen or permanent resident to be considered for this role.

For training purposes, your first three to five days will be on 1st shift from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday.

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to position self for inspection, construction or maintenance of equipment and/or buildings including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces. Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation. Ability to inspect work, materials, equipment, and/or supplies and identify any errors, needs, and/or determining factors. Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to drive state vehicle. Ability to remove snow and ice from designated areas. Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs.
