Job Story
The Summer Conference Assistant (CA) plays an important role in the success of daily operations for the Housing and Residence Life (HRL) camps and conference season. The role of a CA is to provide professional service for incoming groups and ensure all preparations are completed before and after each arrival. CAs will be responsible for providing positive guest experiences through professional customer service and administrative functions.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
The CA will serve on a team of 2-4 other assistants and report directly to the assigned HRL advisor. The position will average variable hours per week and will report to the HRL office, located in Shocker Hall on the WSU Main Campus.
Serve as an information source and role model for the Housing department.
Ensure rooms are ready for guests by facilitating room/building checks and placing linens for the duration of the group’s stay.
Coordinate with custodial and maintenance teams to prepare rooms for incoming groups.
Prepare room keys and roster packets for each group. Completing audits on keys before/after each group.
Set up and organize spaces for group check-ins and conference activities & events in the residence hall.
Provide on-site support and act as the secondary point of contact for conferences.
Facilitate check-in process for groups as they arrive.
Assist in managing group bookings and event schedules.
Lead tours and guide guests through the residence hall(s).
Maintain the overall appearance of tour rooms in Shocker Hall and The Suites.
Assist other HRL team members as needed.
Additional duties as assigned.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements
• Available to work occasional weekends (hours as needed)
• Maintain good conduct standing with the university
• Must be enrolled at the university (fall and/or spring semester) and making academic progress towards graduation
