Assistant Teaching Professor

Pay: $79,608 annually

Work Schedule: Dependent on class schedule.

Job Summary

Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels using various instructional deliveries (e.g., traditional (face-to-face), hybrid, and fully online). To foster applied learning into the course design and engage with industry and local business community applied projects. To advance knowledge through scholarly activities (e.g., active involvement in committees, student mentorship, recruitment and retention initiative, outreach activities, etc.)

Essential Functions

Meet expectations for teaching and service, as set forth by the department and college.

Job Duties

Teach courses in the area of Computer Science to graduate and undergraduate students. Expected teaching load is 3-4 classes per semester. Primary responsibilities include establishing a sustainable research program, publishing in peer-reviewed conferences/journals, securing external funding, demonstrating a commitment to undergraduate/graduate education, and supervising students. Provide leadership in development of new courses, labs, and curriculum. Advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students; publish scholarly work. Develop new courses, labs, and curriculum; and provide service to the Department and the University.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduate level degree or Equivalent Experience in the Field
  • Teaching experience

Faculty Requirements

PhD in Computer Science, or a closely related field awarded by the starting date. Demonstrated ability to be an effective teacher. Candidate should have demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Effective oral and written communication skills. Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery and learning activities, including online and blended learning, flexible teaching methods, and applied learning approaches. Demonstrate the ability to successfully educate and empower a diverse student population. Of particular interest are candidates in the following two broad areas: (i) Data Science (AI/Machine Learning/Big Data), (ii) Cyber-Security (information assurance, network security and privacy, hardware security, software security), although candidates in other Computer Science areas should also apply.

This position will be filled at the Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor position.
