Job Story
The College of Applied Studies (CAS) at Wichita State University invites applications for a full-time Academic Program Specialist and Clinical Placement Coordinator. This position is responsible for two key roles--administrator for the CAS's market-based tuition (MBT) professional learning program and clinical placement coordinator for the college.
The College of Applied Studies (CAS) includes departments that touch all aspects of Pre-K-12 education, educational administration, sport management, organizational leadership and learning, counseling program tracks with several counseling fields, athletic training, and exercise science. Core values inform the work to support student success in CAS, including collaboration, leadership, inclusivity, innovation, and learning.
The ideal candidate will have a highly detail-oriented and customer service approach to the role, along with technology proficiency such as Microsoft Excel, online survey tools, and use of software systems. The candidate must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse constituents, including students in the professional learning courses, faculty, administrators, and education and industry partners. The successful applicant will be a key member of an innovative and responsive team in the Dean’s office that is committed to supporting student learning, enhancing inclusive excellence on campus, and advancing WSU’s mission to be an essential educational, cultural, and economic driver for Kansas and the greater public good.
Job Summary
Plans, coordinates and participates in the establishment and operation of a specialized program and/or activity planning methods and developing systems in accordance with goals and objectives. Ensures compliance with affiliate agreements. Oversees and coordinates student placement opportunities. Prepares and maintains program data.
Essential Functions
Develops and implements systems in support of program activities and provides adequate reference of data, documentation of procedures and processes and evaluation of program results.
Serves as liaison with appropriate faculty, staff and outside sources to obtain and provide pertinent information and to answer inquiries concerning program activities.
Compiles and analyzes information in support of program activities; prepares and distributes reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations and conclusions.
Coordinates with department staff, students and affiliates to facilitate student educational placements and service delivery in accordance with negotiated agreements.
Coordinates and promotes program services at student and affiliate outreach events to meet educational, accreditation, experiential and applied learning needs.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- One (1) year experience in academic programs or related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and highly detail oriented.
- Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and online survey tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in related field
- Two (2) years experience in academic programs or related field
Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
