Job Story

The Business Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing financial, budgeting, and strategic planning for the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at WSU. In this role, you will be assisting with strategic planning, financial projections and reporting, financial transactions in the areas of procurement, travel, scholarships, and more, and administrative support. If you are highly collaborative, organized, detail oriented, and a team player – this may be the perfect opportunity for you!

Job Summary

Leads and manages the administrative, business planning, accounting, and budgeting for a division, college or large department.

Essential Functions

Manages financial and fiscal operations, to include the development and administration of capital and/or operating budgets and expenditures, and the establishment and management of financial control systems. Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives and short and long-range strategic planning. Coordinates the preparation of financial reports, special analyses and information requests; may present recommendations for programmatic and fiscal changes. Leads division, college or department budget and/or administrative operations training, ensuring adherence to policies and regulations. May supervise the work of others.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field
  • One (1) year of experience in finance or related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of ERP systems & data analysis tools
  • Outstanding verbal & written communication skills
  • Understanding of analytical & quantitative analysis
  • Finance management and acumen
  • Ability to effectively work on multiple projects in a high pace environment. Proven ability to prioritize initiatives assigned; handle matters expeditiously and proactively to ensure successful completion of projects, often with deadline pressures.
   

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.

Additional Physical Requirement:

Sedentary:  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time.
