Job Story

The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards is committed to fostering an educational climate that supports the mission of Wichita State University. The Coordinator for Student Conduct and Community Standards will support the mission through educating the campus community and encouraging responsible decision making through academic misconduct. The coordinator will aid the Director in administering the academic integrity process as well as provide a developmental and educational context for academic misconduct issues to faculty, staff, and students. The coordinator will serve as the liaison between Student Conduct & Community Standards and Academic Affairs. The coordinator will hear other cases within the SCCS Office, as needed, including but not limited to Conduct, Organization, Conflict Resolution, etc.

Job Summary

Develops, implements, and executes programs and services to meet the needs of students. Responsible for programming, recruitment and/or retention of students, training, partners with other University resources, and serves as a resource for all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests.

Essential Functions

Plans, coordinates, executes and assesses programs and other related events in conjunction with student organizations, other University departments, and community partners. Plans, coordinates, executes and assesses trainings, in conjunction with student organizations, other University departments, and community partners. May serve as a resource, consultant and liaison to the campus community on student issues. In collaboration with leadership, regularly assesses all programs and services the office provides for effectiveness as well as assist in daily administration. May support the programs by performing responsibilities which may include creating and maintaining databases and websites, monitoring, facilitating, and enforcing compliance with established criteria, guidelines and standards, etc. May provide ongoing monitoring and tracking of program budgets.

Job Duties

Administration of the Academic Integrity Process

  • Facilitate the process for academic integrity cases for individuals, as well as track sanction completion
  • Conduct educational conversations with students for problematic behavior that may not rise to the level of a violation
  • Facilitate Academic Integrity Committee hearings Collaborate with faculty on academic cases
  • Hear other Cases within the SCCS Office, as needed, including but not limited to Conduct, Organization, Conflict Resolution, etc.

Academic Affairs Liaison

  • Meet with Academic Affairs Deans as needed to provide guidance on case loads and the types of academic issues in the specific academic college
  • Collaborate with academic colleges on education and outreach efforts regarding academic integrity
  • Develop and facilitate presentations for faculty regarding academic integrity as needed Provide data reports to the deans on academic integrity cases on a semesterly basis Support Academic Affairs through various programs and initiatives
  • Serve as a partner with Faculty Senate through collaboration with the faculty senate president and attending faculty senate meetings

Assessment

  • Create Assessments for Student Conduct and Community standards as it pertains to academic integrity
  • Analyze Assessments for Student Conduct and Community standards as it pertains to academic integrity
  • Work with the Director for Student conduct and Community Standards to meet Assessment needs for the division of Student Affairs as it pertains to the academic

Education/Outreach

  • Serve as a resource and provide education to WSU community regarding University policies and procedures, including the Student Academic Integrity Policy
  • Research, design, and implement educational seminars for sanctioned students
  • Co-Manage social media presence and website for Student Conduct & Community Standards Co-Facilitate presentations for new students and their guests during Orientation
  • Design new and update current resources available to students, faculty, staff, and community members relating to the student academic integrity process
  • Collaborate with campus and community partners on educational efforts relating to plagiarism, tutoring, and other academic integrity issues
  • Develop a branding and marketing campaign to increase campus awareness of office services and resources
  • Recruit and train Students and Faculty for the Academic Integrity Committee
  • Develop and facilitate presentations for the campus community as needed

Administration & University Service

  • Assist the Director in strategic planning
  • Serve on divisional and institutional committees as assigned
  • Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate student assistants as appropriate
  • Represent Student Conduct & Community Standards at university programs and events as needed
  • Attend professional development programs, conferences, and trainings to stay current with best practices and training requirements
  • Conduct periodic reviews of the Maxient system to ensure all letters, forms, and cases are up to date
  • Participate in policy revision processes on an as needed basis

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in student programming or related field.
    Every 30 hours of college coursework can be substituted for one (1) year of experience, up to 120 hours.

Required License/Certifications/Training:

  • None

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • General understanding of the current trends and issues impacting student populations and higher education
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations, determine facts, exercise good judgment, identify solutions, and consistently apply policies, procedures, and laws
  • Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to successfully interact with students, large groups, faculty, staff, law enforcement, family members, the public, and other professionals
  • Ability to facilitate educational programs and presentations for students, faculty, staff, and community members
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing highly confidential and sensitive matters and attention to detail
  • Computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Counseling, Law, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or other related field
  • One year of full-time experience in a student support capacity at a higher education institution
  • Experience using Maxient software.
 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information. Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to move, transport, and/or deliver items, supplies, or equipment. Ability to move or traverse across campus, within buildings and offices, and/or across external environments.

Additional Physical Requirement:

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to constantly move objects.
