Are you looking for a job where you can make a difference on campus while building your professional skills? TRIO Student Support Services is looking for a friendly and motivated Student Assistant to join our team!

As the first point of contact for our office, you'll help create a welcoming environment for students by greeting visitors, answering phones, and assisting with various office tasks. Your role will be essential in supporting the success of TRIO students — many of whom are first-generation college students or come from underrepresented backgrounds. Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
1. Perform receptionist duties for the program including: answering the telephone, responding to emails, forwarding messages, attending to program participants & visitors, updating spreadsheets, and scheduling/confirming appointments by making phone calls.
2. Perform clerical work including: Typing, filing, computer data entry, picking up the mail, keeping office supply inventory, cleaning/organizing supplies, setting up/attending SSS events and tablings, and running other daily errands.
3. Maintain confidentiality of information when filing documents in students’ files.
4. Attend training sessions required by the program.
5. Maintain accurate records of time worked in the office.
6. Follow program policies and procedures.
7. Complete work as assigned by program staff members and have excellent communication regarding assigned tasks and prioritizing, as needed.
8. Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Enrolled as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student at WSU
- In Good Academic standing
- Have a cumulative 2.5 GPA or better

Preferred Qualifications
1. Ability to perform clerical work
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite and other graphic software
3. Good customer service skills
4. Ability to organize, prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
5. Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
6. Ability to pay attention to detail
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills
8. Ability to keep records and maintain confidentiality
9. Experience working with students similar to those served by SSS
10. Good judgment and decision-making skills
11. Good analytical and problem-solving skills
12. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
