Responsibilities include installing domestic water pumps and piping lines, maintaining specialized equipment, and repairing steam stations and condensate return systems. The successful candidate will interpret blueprints, ensure compliance with codes, and collaborate effectively with contractors and other trade professionals.

Job Summary

Performs highly skilled plumbing work involving the maintenance, installation or repair of plumbing and steam systems, fittings and accessories. Work includes a variety of skilled tasks in major installation, repair, renovation, and construction of plumbing and steam systems to specifications or plumbing codes.

Essential Functions

Installs, maintains and repairs domestic water pumps, water piping lines, water filters and plumbing fixtures.
Carries out preventive maintenance program to maintain plumbing fixtures, specialized kitchen, laundry and laboratory equipment.
Repairs and maintains steam stations, valves, heating and condensate return stations, and sewer and storm drains.
Interprets blueprints and works from sketches or verbal instructions. Assists trade staff and contractors as necessary to coordinate repairs to plumbing.
Inspects completed work to ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, instructions and applicable federal, state and local codes; directs any rework or modification. May provide technical guidance and direction to other staff.
Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks and entryways as required.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of experience in plumbing

Required License/Certifications/Training:

  • Licensed as a Journeyman Plumber
  • Valid Driver's License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of work related agency operations, safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow explicit instructions, both in oral and written form.
  • Ability to work effectively with fellow workers and others.
  • Ability to assist others as needed.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
   

Physical Requirements:

Ability to position self for inspection, construction or maintenance of equipment and/or buildings including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces.
