Job Story
Performance Facilities, part of the College of Fine Arts, manages performance venues including Miller Concert Hall, Wiedemann Hall, DFAC Outdoor Amphitheatre, Wilner Auditorium, and Welsbacher Theatre. These spaces support music and performing arts events, as well as campus and community group performances. The department also provides technical support (audio, lighting, staging) for events at venues like Lowe Auditorium, CAC Theater, Koch Arena, and WSU Commencement.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties

Some roles, like Video Streaming, and Audio Recording, may require relevant experience, though it's not mandatory. Related experience is helpful, and on-the-job training is provided for all positions.
* Stage Operations - Assist with setup and management of stage needs for events as a Deckhand or Deck Manager, ensuring smooth and organized performances.
* Front of House - Provide audience support as a House Manager or Usher, coordinating with event staff to ensure a welcoming experience for attendees.
* Technical Operations - Offer sound, lighting, and video support for performances at fine arts venues and select campus locations.
* Video & Audio Streaming/Recording - Assist with recording and streaming events as a Video or Audio Producer, Engineer, or Operator.

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Information
Student positions have flexible, variable hours based on availability, event needs, and staffing. No fixed schedules are offered, and maximum hours follow WSU policy. Immediate hire is possible, but applicants must already have a U.S. Social Security number and card.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
